In my dream, I was in a room and noticed this strange object I have seem many times before, but never acknowledged it. It seemed to have a face with eyes staring at me… It was approximately 2’ X 2’, was motionless, floating near a corner of the room. When I moved, it always appeared close to me. This time, I was going to remove it!!
I went towards this thing, (I was more angry than afraid) and grabbed it! It was attached…borrowed in. It seemed to have a long tentacle (tail) that resembled a plumber’s snake used to unplug sewer drains. The tail came out to 10-15’ long. I took this thing out of the room and looked for a place to toss it off a cliff or destroy it some how. I knew it could come back if I didn’t.
As I held on to it, I walked into a strange place…large…industrial…some people sitting around…very dirty…smelly…like petroleum, at higher elevation…lots of fencing surrounding the perimeter and large piping overhead. All appearing to be very realistic now, like I am no longer in a dream. I was looking to dispose of this thing.
I went down below to another location, a strange place where people were putting themselves into fire! I was shocked! I thought I was witnessing hell! But they were cleansing themselves with the fire…There were large fire pits for each person, all males, no clothes on, but not showing private areas. I saw men in and next to the very bright fire pits…grabbing the fire, and rubbing it on their face, hair, and bodies!! These men were in great agony! I thought they were killing themselves, but they were purifying themselves! I realized this was not hell…They were there voluntarily and they didn’t look insane, just the opposite.
The first man I saw was dipping his hand in the fire, wiping it on his body. Black soot and water were the byproducts. The man’s skin was not burned, but looked intact and normal, just silty and muddy. He was in pain, his eyes showed it was the agony of the soul more than physical pain. He looked remorseful and sorrowful…
The next bonfire, to my right was another man IN the bon fire, but his body stayed intact. His body was not being consumed by the fire, his inequality was being removed.
The next to the right were two men sitting down resting, covered with mud and water. The bon fire was extinguished. They showed relief and peaceful spirits on their countenance. It appeared they were taking communion. They held a cup on one hand and a piece of bread on the other.
I was looking for an open fire pit unused by another so I could throw this hideous thing in it. But I did not want to disturb anyone. The last pit to my right was abandoned without a fire.
I tried to speak to them to ask for permission to throw this thing in their fire. But I could not speak. I tried so hard, that I said it out loud and woke myself up. Maybe I should have just walked into the fire…
Some thoughts…(I know this dream sounds very strange but perhaps its symbolic of what God is call us to do)
These men were there voluntarily burning the dross and sin out of their souls…They became renewed men afterward.
Hell is involuntary with fire that consumes the flesh that never goes out and will never remove the sin…
I believe this thing I found was a spiritual evil parasite-like-creature that can tap into the soul, to fowl the spirit.
This is a very odd dream for me...I am interested in anyone’s thoughts?
With determination, you tried to handle it by yourself. This is something God can help us with, even though it's important to stand up to it, and assert will to have it gone.
It was embedded deeper than you expected. Similar to sin, habits, demonic harassment. Unexpected form changes made it harder to get a grasp on what you were dealing with.
We might rationalize a vice as a habit, or repeated actions we can stop any time. But we're not free of it if we let it live.
The fires you describe, look like painful repentance. Taking steps to purge ourselves can feel like we're pushing ourselves close to death.
John 12:24
Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
The last decade, many Charismatic leaders cry out for God's consuming fire... encourage "fire tunnels." But in scriptures, God's fire purges (what keeps a person/community from harm), and is not a pleasant experience.
Extinguished fire sounds like the work was done, and they found relief. There is an end to the trauma. Refreshing in the long run.
You wanted to borrow others' fire to make it work, but fires were specific to a person's action/intent. Each of us have to deal with our own cleansing and remorse, new intents, between ourselves and God. Complete.
"Maybe I should have just walked into the fire…"
Seems a personal choice to start each fire. Choosing to see the offenses in one's life as detrimental. Taking steps to stop, like disciplined fasts; determined to not take it up again.
A person might set a certain level of vices as human norm, forgiveable, not really touching their souls or changing their faith. But every little bit shapes us, rewires our brain neurons, changes our impact on others' lives.
Many things we partake in, harm other people in ways we can't imagine.
HYSSOP Psalm 51:7
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Exodus 12:22 hyssop used at first Passover to spread blood around the door frames.
Leviticus 14:4-7 hyssop and blood used in the ceremonial cleansing of the leper. Numbers 19:1 hyssop for cleansing someone who touched a dead body.
"Ezov (hyssop)... used in ritual cleansing of lepers but is not Hyssopus officinali.. may have been caper or savory."
Cleansing occurs with the combination of remorseful intent, action to change, and accepting the redemption paid by Jesus.
John 19:28-30
They put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
“It wasn’t the blood of the lamb spread of your door frame with the hyssop that allowed the angel of death to pass over you when you were leaving Egypt.
It wasn’t the blood of animals that Moses sprinkled on you with the hyssop that appeased my wrath. It was my Son’s blood. I did that. I led you out of Egypt. I paid the price for your rebellion. Look at the hyssop and remember my Son."
Hebrews 12:29
But you have come to... God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made complete, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood...
