Dreams can come from a number of things, and be meant for different purposes. It is no shame to realize your dream was "normal," because God is continually working on our character.
We are instructed to humble ourselves, resist temptation, repent, "just stand". The refiner's fire purifies silver and gold, and removes the dross. In non-prophetic dreams, we can learn about ourselves-- how we were overly stressed about a situation, fearful, jealous, hopeful... in an amplified way. Then we can take that to God, let Him help us with it.
Zechariah 13:9
I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are My people,' And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God."
Most dreams are open-ended glimpses. Prophetic ones do not tell the entire story; stress dreams end before you're annihilated. You can reflect on them over time, chew the cud. Do research, see how it relates to news and things going on around you. You can pray, especially for others that might be going through a frightful situation.
God is rarely telling you "Now you must pray," (relocate, leave a bad bf) but He's certainly hoping you'll take a responsible, mature, caring set of steps after you realize something needs attention. He shows you angles to truth that you might not have seen.
Psalms 90:12
Teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
Deuteronomy 4:6
So keep and do them (Laws), for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.'
When interpreting, I often give clues instead of spelling it out. In the vein of dreams being left for the dreamer to explore and ruminate on, one quick solution does not neatly wrap up a dream. If God speaks something that keeps unfolding, we should not cover it with washi tape and throw it in a box.
In the beginning, He spoke... and now knowledge on His universe still seems limitless.
Micah 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
