In a dream vision I was taken in the spirit above the Charles River that divides Boston from Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the duration of only a few seconds I saw the land jolt.
Near Harvard University, the banks on each side of the Charles River suddenly separated further from each other, widening the river and causing a bridge to collapse immediately into the water.
In another location downriver, I saw a red-painted steel truss bridge warp when the land on one side of the river moved one way and the land on the other side moved the opposite direction. The groaning of the steel bending and the bridge twisting and turning as it fell into the river below was an unearthly clamor.
To the citizens of coastal Massachusetts:
Boston’s great earthquake will be one of many in North America and across the world. Much of Boston is built on landfill and on long timber piles sunk deep into clay. Consequently, many structures will collapse. The coastal plain cities of Boston and Cambridge will not be exempt from the great shakings, and the ensuing tsunamis, to come.
