In a dream vision the Holy Spirit presented to me the text of a good-sized paragraph at least eight to ten sentences long. Something unusual about the lettering of the words of the paragraph caught my eye. Scattered throughout the entire text were three letters in succession—“war”—in bold. I could not read the entire text of the paragraph or even any individual word but the bolded letters spelling “war.” This word “war” appeared as its own word, but quite often it was embedded in other larger words that included this three-letter sequence. Examples of such embedded words would include “beware,” “warning,” “coward,” “forewarning,” and “skyward.” These were not the exact words I saw because the Holy Spirit would not let me read the entire words and sentences, only the bolded word “war” within the words and sentences.
When I awoke, and in the time since, I have asked the Holy Spirit to reveal the meanings of this vision. Not only does the vision warn of war in the literal sense—as in civil war and world war, and conventional war and nuclear war—but it warns of war hidden or embedded in apparently non-warlike activities. War can be undertaken indirectly and surreptitiously through regime change, restricted freedoms, assaults on biological life forms and their DNA, misuse of technology, and the destruction of human souls. Because Christians, and humans in general, are in a situation of war—declared and undeclared—this circumstance requires us to armor up, first and foremost through prayer and the Word of God. We must decide whom we serve and ultimately which spiritual army we will join. Whether we expected it or not, whether we wanted it or not, we are drafted as spiritual soldiers on one side or another of a greater war for human souls.
