We find it to be a wonderful and Godly place to live. We moved here on Gods guidance 7 years ago and of course we prayed and asked the Lord to show us where He wanted us to be. It may not be for everyone but we find the people here to be kind and very neighborly folks. We have no doubts that this is exactly where our good Lord wants us to be. We use mylar bags and oxygen absorbers in a 5 gallon bucket. You can get a large mylar bag that will fit in the 5 gallon bucket, but I would suggest that you might want to get a lot of 1 gallon bags to put your food in, then place the filled 1 gallon bags into the 5 gallon buckets. This way your food will stay fresh longer than if you open a 5 gallon bag that you need to eat before it goes bad.(just a thought) If you purchase your 5 gallon buckets at Lowes, the lids do not have a seal on them. If you purchase your buckets at Home Depot (we have heard) the lids do have a seal and that is better. You can purchase the mylar bags and the oxygen absorbers on line from many different companies, we like Mylar Pro and have found out recently the best way to buy from them is on E-Bay (no shipping and better deals). This company also has a very helpful video, and there are many videos on you tube about the best ways to store food in mylar bags, just Google it. Hello Carolina, We are making suggestions for those who feel it is time to move but don't know where to go or how to make it work financially. We came into this safety zone, just the 2 of us 350 miles from home, not knowing anyone here, but trusting in the Lord to provide. Since moving here we have met many like minded people and yes we do discuss with them the future "Grid Down" possibilities. It seems since moving here we have discovered most of the mountain farm people were already preppers and didn't know it, this is just how they live anyway, with only a few exceptions. We were happy to find many churches throughout the area and people openly talking about God in public places. God bless you and be with you, Gary and Donna

Hi David, greetings from the mountains of Northwestern North Carolina, I agree with you 182%, you sound like me. God called me long ago also. If we can help you with information on anything in our area please feel free to ask. I was given a zone of safety, several years ago for the end days. It lays between the Appalachian Trail on the west and the Blue Ridge Parkway on the east, Burnsville, NC on the south and Sparta, NC on the north. This is a large high elevation area that meets most all of the requirements necessary to survive what is coming. We have found the region to be full of Gods people wherever we go. Good Morning Lisa Ann, I was reading your post and my reply to my husband and he thinks you have been told to move. We moved from Georgia to a place near Sparta, NC in late 2013 based on a message from God given to my husband. My husband was told there will be pockets of safe places in the US and Northwestern North Carolina is one of them. We were given signs of confirmation when we got here, God seemed to arrange for everything to easily fall into place for us. My husband says the fact that you have been in touch with us, is a sign for us to share this message with you. This region does seem to have lots of Godly people and lots of empty houses and has turned out to be a wonderful region for us to live in. Hello this is Donna & Gary, we live in the mountains of N Carolina near Sparta. We feel that God lead us to this area, and have been preparing for sometime. I thought I would give you a couple of suggestions for your preparations. Get a good manual can opener in case the power goes off. If you can't go to the store you will need to have a good supply of toilette paper, if you have a good water supply (stream/lake) then you can cut up an old sheet for cleansing cloths. Sorry if this is TMI but we have been thinking this through for several years and know there is a lot to getting prepared.
