The photo above is all about why we do what we do. It's about meeting new people, getting involved in their lives, and along the way, seeing babies saved from abortion, as well as post abortive women being healed from the scars of past abortions!
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, Carrie was invited to speak at the Univerity of Texas Medical Branch in Galvestion (see left bottom corner of the above photo collage), to an awesome group of Medical Students. Due to a dream Richard had been given a week or two before, and some things that happened on their drive from Houston to Galvestion that day which tied into the dream, Richard new that something big was going to come out of that visit.
After Carrie spoke, she and Richard spent a few hours at the beach, and then met with 5 of the medical students for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, during which time, one of the students asked if we had ever heard of the SBSK (Special Books by Special Kids) youtube channel. Richard responded that we had, but we thought that they only interviewed children. We were encouraged to contact them because they did indeed interview adults with disabilities as well, so after arriving back in the Houston area, Richard reached out to Chris, the founder of SBSK, told him the story, and asked if they would be interested in doing an interview with us. Just over two weeks later, Chris contacted Richard and asked if we were still interested, and upon saying yes, Chris checked his schedule and made an almost immediate appointment to fly to Houston to do the interview on January 13, 2019. After nearly two hours of filming and some off camera converstation, Chris was so inspired by our time together, that by early Valentines day evening, the interview had been edited down to two versions, a short 3 minute version for facebook and instagram, which linked to the longer 10 minute version on youtube, and they were all uploaded and began to be viewed by hundreds of thousands of people.
Over the course of the next week, just youtube and facebook views alone were totaling approximately 2.8 MILLION!!! From those views, we were immediately deluged by numerous e-mails, social media comments, and a few of them even sent us their pictures. But one of the most rewarding messages came from a Pro-Life Ministry in Kampala, Uganda, telling us of a young 16 year old girl named Pamela, whose boyfriend had gotten her pregnant seven months earlier, and then both he, and her parents abandoned her. At that point, she moved in with a friend, who encouraged her to abort her baby, but somehow, Pamela came into contact with a member of that Pro-Life ministry, and was shown the SBSK video, at which point, she made the choice to keep her baby!!!
Stories like this are what we are all about my friends! The Bible tells us in the book of Revelation, "They overcame him (satan) by the blood of the lamb, AND the WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY, who loved not their lives unto death". Had we not been willing to be vulnerable, and been willing to share our testimony with the Medical Students in Galveston, and then, had not been willing to take it before the world via social media when offered the chance, Pamela's baby might very well be dead, and Pamela would have compounded her problems and become guilty of killing her child, and may very well have carried those scars of guilt, shame, and regret with her to her own grave, and into an etermity without God if she was never lead to a place of repentance, forgiveness, and healing through Jesus our Messiah!
You may not be an abortion survivor, and you may not be married to one, but God has given each of us a testimony to share that can encourage and help someone else in their times of need, and that said, we would like to encourage each of you to look for opportunities to share your testimony with others. We'd also like to ask you to continue to share the SBSK video, so that more lives like Pamela and her unborn baby might be touched by the love of God!
